Health inequities have been described by the World Health Organization as disparities in health status/outcomes or health resource distribution among different population groups.

The Sydani team has been providing technical support to the Niger State Primary Health Care Development Agency (NSPHCDA) across 128 health facilities in 12 LGAs. The goal is to strengthen the PHC system and build the capacity of PHC managers across seven (7) thematic areas (Data Management, Financial Management, Quality Management, Supply Chain Management, Facility Management, Planning & Community Relations, Human Resources for Health Management), meant to improve primary health care in the state.

To provide its population with high-quality healthcare, Niger State committed to improving its health system and filling management of Primary Health Care's capacity deficiencies and to solve the state's disjointed administration and management, poor funding, and lack of human resources.

The 2016 MICS/NICS data which served as a baseline report shows that only 8 to 17 percent of children received their vaccinations within the recommended time in North-western Nigeria. In Kano state, for instance, only 13 percent of children received Penta 1 vaccination before 6 weeks of age, and only 41 percent of children received their Penta 2 and Penta 3 doses less than 4 weeks from the previous vaccination.

For the longest time, the topic of women's empowerment and gender equality has been a priority on the global agenda. Today, it remains a crucial discussion point across sectors, spaces, disciplines, and contexts.

One of the prominent factors that contribute to poor immunization timeliness and completion amongst rural women in Nigeria is a lack of knowledge on the importance of immunization and a lack of awareness of the immunization schedule of their children/wards.
